October is National Principals Month, and last but certainly not least for our Spotlight this month is our newest BCISD principal, Dr. Donna Brady from RJ Richey Elementary School
Q: What is one thing you hope every student who walks through your campus doors feels?
DB: I hope every student feels they have a purpose for living and learning when they walk through our campus doors.
Q: What was your favorite subject in school, and why?
DB: I loved writing in school because my teachers said I was good at it. I felt successful and enjoyed all kinds of writing. I even won a bicentennial writing contest sponsored by the DAR for Harris County when I was in 8th grade.
Q: What was your first job?
DB: Babysitting for 50 cents hour!
Q: What is one piece of advice from a teacher, mentor, or family member that has stuck with you?
DB: One of my mentors taught me to "live in my own skin" my first year as a principal. She encouraged me to continue being a learner and to do my job as principal using the gifts God gave me and not to try to be like someone else. Her words have kept me secure in living a purpose driven life and loving the job I get to do!
Q: What is something you're really proud of that has nothing to do with your job?
DB: I'm proud of my twin kids, Forrest and Rachael. They are 38 years old and both are living purpose driven lives. They also have an attitude of gratefulness. Ask me about the one time we had a rice and water dinner and how that experience shaped their gratefulness.
