We are so grateful that Ms. Jimenez is a Trailblazer and for all she brings to the school as an Adobe and Computer Science teacher, as well as a volleyball coach! Our students learn so much from her, and we couldn't be prouder of Ms. Jimenez for this well-deserved honor!

September was full of action here at Discovery! Here are a few things Trailblazers got up to this month:

● We've partnered with local nonprofit Book Harvest Over the summer, a little free library was installed near our Discovery Garden. Book Harvest stocks this library with books students can take home at no cost. Go grab a read!

● Computer Science students presented dioramas of office spaces designed specifically for a graphic design services company. Students had to plan the network infrastructure, explain why they made the decisions they made, discuss the security of their network, and create a budget for the hardware to set up the office spaces. It was very cool!

● Our Discovery Garden is thriving with life! Lots of Monarch caterpillars are taking up residence. We are at 5+ cocoons and growing. This is super exciting, because Monarchs are an endangered species.

● Students dove into the world of food photography: staging the food, experimenting with lighting, and photographing their setups. They also explored toy photography, product photography, and splash photography as part of the unit.
