We were grateful to gather last week for a special Eckhart Library Foundation tea—an afternoon centered on connection, shared history, and appreciation for the community that continues to sustain the library.

Guests enjoyed a guided tea tasting, learned more about the rich connection between the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum and the library, and helped select the 2026 Signature Tea Blend.

We were also pleased to share an update on the Community Gathers Here initiative. To date, $32,180 has been committed to the project, and we were honored to present a check to Eckhart Public Library for $24,180 in gifts received so far, made possible through the generosity of this community.

This experience was made possible through the thoughtful contributions of many:

• Lori Berndt of The Olive Twist, for leading our tea tasting
• Brandon Anderson and the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum for hosting and sharing their expertise
• Nagel's GardenHouse for the beautiful flowers
• Betty Conrad, Susan Buttermore, Margaret Buttermore, and Janet Nagel for the stunning décor
• Students from Impact Institute for preparing the refreshments
• And Jim Farlow for bringing Charles Eckhart to life as our special guest

We are especially thankful for those who joined us. Your presence and continued support ensure the library remains a place for all, now and for generations to come.

🌿 Community Gathers Here Update 🌿

We’re excited to share that we’ve reached 60% of our goal, raising $30,180 toward $50,000 to enhance the outdoor space at Eckhart Public Library!

This progress is thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, including support from the DeKalb County Women Care 100+, Auburn Classic Noon Lions Club, the Auburn High School Class of 1960, and many individual donors. Because of this momentum, we’re now expecting furniture to be in place in early June—just in time for Strawberries Around the Fountain 🍓

There’s still more to do, and every gift helps bring this vision to life.

We enjoyed having the opportunity to talk with Eckhart Public Library staff this morning! Thank you for having us!

Thank you for your patience this morning!

We had a delayed opening to have a staff training.

In addition to hearing about the work Eckhart Library Foundation is doing, we also learned about the vast offerings available at Bowen Health in Auburn and learned about communication and overall workflows. Thank you to Hailey from Eckhart Library Foundation and Mary from Bowen Health for joining us early this morning!

The outdoor space at Eckhart Public Library has long been a place where our community naturally gathers—families, readers, neighbors, and friends. Through Community Gathers Here, we’re enhancing the space with shaded tables, new benches, a natural playscape, and charging access to make it even more welcoming and functional for everyone.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’re already about halfway to our goal! Every gift helps strengthen this beloved gathering place.
