The Aston Township Fire Department is hosting a Back-To-School Gift Card raffle valued at over $500 to set you up for success in the new school year

In addition to the fire in Middletown, the Department handled 2 other fire division calls for a LZ assist to Christiana Care and a multi-vehicle accident with 3 patients needing medical attention. The EMS division also handled nearly 2 dozen calls and a graduation standby.

Just before sunrise the department assisted the Middletown Township Fire Companjes on a working fire. Members operated as the Second Due Engine with fire suppression and opening up. ATFD units cleared up in just under two hours.

The department was dispatched to a technical rescue involving a subject trapped at the bottom of a pipe near the Delaware River. Truck 17, Marine 17, and Gator 17 responded and assisted Tinicum Fire Company with manpower support during the incident. Gator 17 was utilized for land-based operations, while Marine 17 was launched from Station 48 with two Water Rescue Team members aboard to support rescue efforts on the water. Once the subject was successfully removed from the pipe and transferred to Marine 48 personnel, Marine 17 returned to shore.

The ATFD Fire Division handled 8 calls for service yesterday.

Before lunch, Tac 17 handled an Automatic Fire Alarm, Carbon Monoxide Alarm, and a fence on fire.

Later in the day the Department handled an LZ for Christiana care, and shortly after was dispatched for the residential house fire on the unit block of Anvil lane in Middletown Township. Crews located a small fire in the walls which was quickly extinguished and placed under control.

As the Squad was clearing the building fire, they were diverted to an accident with entrapment in the 1300BLK of Baltimore Pike. Squad 17 arrived to find the patient had self extricated and was transferred to EMS for evaluation. Shortly after, the Department was dispatched to Aston Mills and Diamond in Aston for an accident with entrapment. Squad 17 arrived to find one patient entrapped. Squad and Tac 17’s crew quickly extricated the patient who was then transported by EMS.

Finally, just before 11PM the 2nd alarm was struck in the City of Chester for a house fire in the 900BLK of Potter Street. Crews from Squad and Truck 17 stood by as RIT before being released by command.

The EMS Division also handled 8 calls for service.

At 10:30 this morning, the residential structure fire assignment was dispatched to the unit block of Andrew Ct in Upper Chichester Fire Departments local. First arriving units found heavy fire from all floors of an end of the row townhouse and the 2nd alarm was struck.

Truck 17 arrived as the 2nd due truck and was assigned to open up the Delta exposure and control extension. Crews worked under the command of Deputy 10 for about 3 hours before being released from the scene.

While the Truck was committed to Upper Chichester, the Tac handled a vehicle fire with the engine compartment on fire in town.

At 1:30 this morning, the Automatic Fire Alarm was dispatched for the Primos Hoagie in the 3400BLK of Concord Rd in Aston. Shortly after dispatch, police went on location with fire in the business and the assignment was upgraded to a commercial structure fire. Tac 17 arrived as the First Due Engine, secured a hydrant and went in service on an electrical fire in the kitchen area. The assignment was quickly placed under control and the building was ventilated.

This fire is under investigation by the Aston Township Fire Marshall’s office.

As units were clearing the Aston assignment, the residential structure fire was being dispatched for the area of Barren Ave and Van Leer Ave in Rocky Run Fire Companys first due. First arriving units had a rear porch fire with extension into the house. Truck and Tac 17 responded arriving as the 2nd due Truck and 4th Due Engine. Crews from Aston performed primary searches and ventilation before assisting with cleanup.
