Around 1040 hours this morning, Ladder 65 was dispatched on the 2nd alarm to the unit block of Andrew Court in Upper Chichester Township.

Engine 10 arrived on scene with fire showing from a two-story end-of-row townhouse and immediately began an interior attack. Due to deteriorating fire conditions, crews were withdrawn from the structure until the bulk of the fire was knocked down.

The crew from Ladder 65 assisted operations on scene for approximately one hour before being released by command and returning to service

25 members were in house last night for our regular Wednesday training night.

While admin members attended to the business of our all-volunteer organization, 15 took part in a scenario based drill on ground ladders.

Each operational member gets checked off each year on knowledge of skills such as apparatus equipment uses, care, and location plus SCBA (air pack) use and maintenance. The learning doesn’t stop with the fire academy basic certs!

We had one call for service in the township during our training.

Congratulations to Firefighter/EMT Elias Price, graduating this Friday from Strath Haven.

Eli was selected to introduce Principal Benzing at the graduation ceremony- two very energetic and gregarious guys sharing the stage!

He has received an Army ROTC scholarship to the University of Tennessee, where he will study Construction Science and Management.

Eli’s first fire after graduating from Montgomery County Fire Academy was this four alarmer in the City of Chester.

Way to go, Eli!

Historically, the American fire service, career and volunteer , has filled its ranks with generational members.

Too, the National Institute of Health estimates that up to 30% of career firefighters started as juniors in their local community.

At 1830 hours, Ladder 65 was dispatched to the 500 block of Market Street in Marcus Hook for a reported commercial building fire. Initial reports indicated that an explosion had occurred and smoke was coming from the top of a silo.

Engine 68 arrived on scene and confirmed the report and began setting up to extinguish the fire. Ladder 65 arrived on scene and staged in the manpower pool.

The fire was brought under control and command began releasing units from the scene.

Just before 11am, Ladder 65 was dispatched on the second alarm to the 800 Block of Lincoln St in Chester City. City units arrived on scene with heavy smoke showing from a 2 story twin and began an interior attack.

Ladder 65 arrived and assisted with opening up on division 2 of the exposure building.

The fire was brought under control a short time later and Ladder 65 was released from the scene.

A gorgeous Wednesday evening provided for the perfect training opportunity for two of our members who are qualifying on driving/operating one of our pumpers and our ladder.

A benefit of this volunteer firehouse is its deep bench of highly qualified and experienced senior members, including those with state instructor credentials.
