On March 26, 2025, the Provincial Health Office in partnership with the Democrito O. Plaza Memorial Hospital - DOPMH HACT HIV/AIDS Core Team and RHU of Sta. LGU Santa Josefa conducted the Teenage Pregnancy and HIV/AIDS Awareness at Aurora National High School, Municipality of Sta. Josefa, with 140 students attended.

The goal of this advocacy is to empower our young AgSurnon people to make informed decisions about their reproductive health, potentially preventing negative outcomes like premature births, health complications brought by early pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, which is highly preventable through proper awareness and care.

The Provincial Health Office of Agusan del Sur spearheaded an HIV/AIDS Advocacy and Mobile Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) campaign, integrating Rabies Awareness in observance of March as Rabies Awareness Month.

The health caravan took place from March 26 to 28, 2025, reaching students in different schools:

March 26, 2025 – Aurora National High School, Sta. Josefa

March 27, 2025 – Saint Francis Xavier College, San Francisco

March 28, 2025 – New Visayas National High School, San Francisco

The initiative aimed to enhance awareness about HIV transmission, prevention, and treatment to dispel misconceptions and reduce stigma. The program also included a demonstration of proper condom use, emphasizing safe sexual practices. Additionally, participants had access to free HIV, Hepatitis B (HbsAg), and Syphilis testing, along with free condom distribution after testing.

Alongside the HIV advocacy, the campaign incorporated Rabies Awareness, stressing the importance of prevention and control measures to protect the community from the deadly disease.

The activity was led by the Provincial Health Office of Agusan del Sur, with the support of Dr. Annie Dioso, Ms. Shin Gultiano, Ms. Jescia Otero, and Mr. Edmundo Dela Cruz III, who facilitated discussions and testing services.

Human sa pipila ka tuig nga paningkamot ug determinasyon, nakab-ot na sa Agusan del Sur ang kampeyonato isip pinakamaayong delegado sa CRAG 2025. Ang lig-on nga dedikasyon, kusog, abilidad, sa mga atletang AgSurnon nga ilang gipamalas sa nagkalain-laing kompetisyon mao ang nagdala sa prestihiyosong award sa probinsya.

Mipahayag sa iyang dakong garbo ug pasalamat sa tanang atleta si Governor Santi Cane, Jr., Cong. Eddiebong Plaza, Cong. Alfel Bascug ug ang kinatibuk-an nga opisyales sa probinsya nga sukad paman kaniadto grabe ang gibubo nga suporta sa mga atletang AgSurnon.

Naglaum ang probinsya nga ang maong kadaugan maghatag ug inspirasyon sa mas daghang pang kabatan-onang AgSurnon nga maningkamot sa ilang mga pangandoy sa isports ug makahatag garbo puhon sa atong probinsya sa palarong pambansa ug sa mga uban pang kompetisyon. Ang probinsya magpadayon sa pagpasiugda ug suporta sa atong mga atleta labina puhon sa pag-host sa probinsya sa umaabot nga Palarong Pambansa sa tuig 2026.

A true champion, Hidilyn Diaz set foot in Agusan del Sur for the Caraga Regional Athletic Games 2025 Weightlifting Refresher Course, held from March 31 to April 4, 2025, at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Covered Court. Warmly welcomed by the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur, her presence reinforces the province and the region’s vision of developing world-class weightlifters in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

Weightlifting has flourished in the Philippines, greatly inspired by Hidilyn Diaz’s historic Olympic victory. She set two Olympic records in weightlifting and secured the country's first-ever gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

During the refresher course, Hidilyn Diaz led a lecture and demonstration alongside her husband and coach, Julius Naranjo. Her expertise made weightlifting techniques and fundamentals more accessible, equipping aspiring athletes with essential knowledge of the sport. The course was attended by technical officials and coaches, ensuring proper training and officiating standards are upheld in future competitions.

The refresher course not only strengthened the skills of local weightlifting mentors but also ignited a passion for excellence in the sport. With the unwavering support of the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur, this initiative marks a significant step toward producing future champions who may one day follow in Hidilyn Diaz’s footsteps on the world stage.

Today, the Composting Facility for Biodegradable Wastes (CFBW) Program was officially launched at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center in Patin-ay, Agusan del Sur! 🎉

This initiative, led by the Department of Agriculture-Caraga, Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), and the Villar SIPAG Foundation, with the support and facilitation of the Provincial Government of Agusan del Surthrough the Provincial Agriculture Office, marks a significant step toward sustainable waste management and agricultural productivity. 🌱

A total of 20 CFBW units were handed over to various Farmers' Cooperatives (FCAs), LSAs, and BLGUs across the province. These units include:
Rotary composter (1-ton capacity)
Biomass shredder (1-ton per hour)
Vermitea Brewer
Compost presser & sieve
Soil test kit

Beneficiaries also received hands-on training on how to operate, maintain, and maximize compost production, ensuring they can fully harness the benefits of this new technology. 💡

This program represents a major step forward in: Waste reduction, Soil health improvement, Promoting a greener, more sustainable future for Agusan del Sur 🌿

In line with the National Women’s Month celebration, Michelle Lyn P. Escobidal, RSW, conducted a health class at Station 1 Ward of Talacogon District Hospital on March 26, 2025. The session focused on women empowerment and the fight against violence on women and children (VAWC), aiming to educate patients and caregivers about their rights, legal protections, and available support services.

Ms. Escobidal highlighted the significance of women’s active participation in decision-making, the importance of self-worth, and the role of the community in preventing violence. She also provided information on laws protecting women and children, as well as resources for victims of abuse. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions, expressing their thoughts and concerns about the topic.

March 26, 2025 | The Moral Recovery and Values Formation Services (MRVFS) of the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur, successfully conducted a 2-days Retreat & Recollection Orientation Seminar for schools upon request to Grade 12 students at Agusan del Sur National Science High School, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. These initiatives aim to instill core values, ethical decision-making, and strong character formation among students, equipping them with the moral foundation necessary for personal growth and responsible citizenship.

Moreover, the orientation seminar stressed self-reflection and resilience, elements that make up a navigational compass for life as they mature through adolescence and into adulthood. Participants engaged in interactive discussions, group activities, and guided reflections, encouraging students towards deeper introspection on their values, purpose, and social responsibilities, as well.

By fostering a sense of integrity, discipline, and compassion, the MRVFS aims to shape well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to their communities. The initiative aligns with the broader vision of the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur to cultivate a culture of ethical leadership and social responsibility among the youth, ensuring they become proactive agents of positive change in society.
