PRESS RELEASE || Collapse of NEMRC Leadership Triggers Surrender of Three CTG Members in Caraga

Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur—Three members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) surrendered to the 401st Infantry “Unite N’ Fight” Brigade under the supervision of Colonel Glenn Joy U. Aynera, the Acting Brigade Commander, on May 27, 2026, amid the continuing disintegration of the North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC).

The surrenderers were identified as Edelberto Eda alias “Toto/Migz,” Belenda Eda alias “Nene,” and Hazel Bautista alias “Chimbee,” all security members under the Regional Operations Command (ROC) of the NEMRC. Their surrender came after intensive intelligence operations and the reported loss of alias Bong/Wago/Bill, which left the group disoriented and without leadership. They also turned over one (1) Carbine rifle, three (3) magazines, and twenty-eight (28) rounds of ammunition.

COL Aynera said the recent surrenders clearly demonstrate the accelerating collapse of the CTG structure in the region.

“These successive surrenders signal the collapse of the CTG structure in Caraga. Through intensified operations, inter-agency cooperation, and reintegration programs, more CTG members are choosing to return to the folds of the law for a peaceful and productive life. He also added that the Brigade continues to uphold the whole-of-nation approach in achieving Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) across Caraga and Eastern Mindanao”. COL Aynera stated.

Meanwhile, Major General Marion T. Angcao, Commander of Joint Task Force Diamond, commended the 401st Infantry Brigade and partner agencies for their sustained efforts.

“The surrender of these CTG members, along with the recovery of their fi****ms, further demonstrates the irreversible decline of the NEMRC. These developments reflect the growing realization among the remaining CTG members that armed struggle no longer serves their cause. He urged those still in the movement to lay down their arms and avail themselves of the government’s reintegration programs.” MGEN Angcao said.
