The OTOP Philippines Strategic Planning Workshop started today, October 29, 2026, at the LMD-PESO Hall, Capitol Compound in Bangbngalon, Boac, Marinduque. Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the two-day activity provided a collaborative platform designed to align local economic priorities with national initiatives under Republic Act No. 11960, also known as the OTOP Philippines Law. The event brought together local government unit (LGU) officials, institutional representatives, and community stakeholders to assess the local situationer, formulate localized action plans, and establish concrete support mechanisms for OTOP MSMEs.
The technical session was delivered by Dir. Jerico Namoro from the Bureau of Market Development Promotions and OTOP (BMDPO), who presented an overview of the regional and local development landscape and the localization of Republic Act No. 11960, guiding participants through the legal frameworks and practical applications necessary for implementing OTOP mandates within LGUs.
Then, the participants engaged in the first workshop segment focused on situational analysis and baseline assessments. During this session, attendees evaluated local industry performance, identified key development gaps, and presented Output 1: the Consolidated LGU OTOP Situationer, Baseline, and Development Needs. Discussions then transitioned into priority setting and the development of localized Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs). Participants drafted strategic priorities, objectives, and actionable interventions, culminating with a comprehensive wrap-up summarizing key accomplishments.
