Did you know that before the Old Library was built, the Library used to be in what is now the Alington Room? Here is a picture from our Benefactor's book and a recent photo of the room.

We recently displayed our 'buckshot book'. That's right...it's riddled with buckshot.

The book, 'Thoughts on Prison Labour' contains the bookplate of our alumnus John Scott, Lord Eldon).

Lord Eldon, who served two stints as Lord Chancellor, was a keen sportsman but not a very good shot. His brother, Lord Stowell, said that 'the only thing John Scott killed when out shooting was time.'

Why the book has been damaged in this way, remains a mystery.

We had a great crowd for ! We loved showing everyone Univ's Old Library, as well as all the medieval marginalia in Ambrosius Spiera's Quadragesimale de floribus sapientia (1476).

This manicule was a firm favourite!
