weekend is upon us and we'll be opening our new exhibition, 'Messing about with manuscripts', which marks the imminent 60th anniversary of the publication of R.A.B. Mynors’ celebrated catalogue of Balliol’s manuscripts. Drop by Balliol Historic Collections Centre at St Cross Church, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 from 11.00am-4.00pm to see some stunning medieval books and insights into scholarly research on them in the 20th century.

Our current exhibition is open again today from 11.00am - 4.00pm. Please do drop by to join us and learn about the history of food through the College’s special collections and archives!

We've had a busy start to term finishing up our new exhibition, 'A Taste of Balliol: food and dining in the historic collections of Balliol College', which opens today!

Join us at St Cross Church from 11.00am - 4.00pm today, to see a 19th century recipe for a ham sandwich (more involved than you might think), photos of kitchen staff in former times, plans of state of the art kitchen facilities from the 1860s, a mechanical lemon peeler and much more.

Happy LGBT+ History Month! We’re marking the month with a display in the Reading Room. This year’s curricular theme is ‘Behind the lens’, celebrating LGBT+ people’s contributions to cinema, so we’ve highlighted some great films, from ground-breaking classics to recent favourites. We’ve also got a selection of books including novels, poetry, plays and non-fiction for you to borrow and enjoy!

We've had a busy start to term finishing up our new exhibition, 'A Taste of Balliol: food and dining in the historic collections of Balliol College', which opens today!

Today is the final opening of our exhibition , 'A Load of Old Babel'. Find us at St Cross Church (next to Holywell Manor) until 4pm today for your last chance to see it!

Our current exhibition is open today in the Historic Collections Centre at St Cross Church between 11am and 4pm. 'A Load of Old Babel' examines the variety of languages in our historic collections, so come and see medieval manuscripts in Latin, scrolls in Hebrew, scriptures on palm-leaf in Pali, artificial alphabets, and dictionaries of cant.

It's the last day of term! We hope you have a restful break over the vacation. To help, we've put out a display of novels, poetry, DVDs, and well-being materials (tiny Christmas crackers too) for you to take home and enjoy.

We've also put out the Secret Santa books next to the display, so if you requested a surprise book you'll find it waiting for you in the Reading Room!
