🚔 How does Duston Parish Council help tackle anti-social behaviour?
We are working hard to make a difference in helping to make Duston a safer and more pleasant place to live.
So, what do we do?
Here are some of the ways we play our part:
👮 Neighbourhood Watch – Duston Parish Council acts as the local area coordinator for Neighbourhood Watch schemes, helping to support local residents, encourage vigilance and strengthen communication within our community.
📹 CCTV cameras – We are now working with a specialist company to introduce two deployable CCTV cameras. These can be moved to different locations around Duston to help monitor areas of concern and support efforts to deter anti-social behaviour.
🚗 Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs) – We have 4 speed-activated signs around the parish to remind motorists of the speed limit and encourage safer driving on our roads.
🤝 Working with partners – We liaise with Northamptonshire Police, West Northamptonshire Council, our local ward councillors Cllr Vincent Clive - Duston Councillor Hayley Adkins - Duston and other organisations to raise concerns, share information and seek solutions to issues affecting residents.
📢 Listening to residents – Reports and concerns from local people help us identify problems and highlight areas where action may be needed.
We may not have the legal powers to investigate crimes, make arrests or take direct enforcement action, but that doesn’t mean we cannot make a difference.
Keeping Duston safe is a shared responsibility. By working together with residents, the police and our partners, we can all play a part in making our community a safer place to live, work and visit.
