If your fire alarm went off right now, would your team know where to look?
An alarm panel is only half of a working fire safety system. The other half is the information around it: the zone chart that tells you which part of the building has activated, and the fire action notice that tells people what to do next.
Here's a panel our engineer was servicing in a communal building, with the zone chart and fire action notice right beside it. That setup is not decoration. It is what turns a beeping box into a usable system.
A few things worth checking at your own premises:
→ Is the zone chart up to date with the current layout, room numbering and zone descriptions?
→ Are fire action notices displayed where people will actually see them, not tucked away?
→ Can someone reach the panel and read it quickly under pressure?
→ Does the information match what the panel actually reports during a test?
Where building layouts change and records do not, a real activation becomes guesswork. Small updates now save confusion later.
We service, maintain and upgrade fire alarm systems for businesses, estates teams and facilities managers across the East Midlands and surrounding areas, and we will always tell you plainly what needs attention.
