Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Mental health, children's and learning disability services. Page monitored 9am-5pm Mon-Fri. Members receive regular updates on our news and upcoming events.

As a Foundation Trust we are required to build a membership which is as representative of the community we serve as possible. Local people are invited to become a member of the Trust, to work with us to provide the most suitable services for the local population. They are also represented by a Council of Governors. We have a clear vision for the Trust, underpinned by objectives that serve as the b

asis for decision making and forward planning. Our vision and objectives guide us in how we balance the interests of patients, the local community and other stakeholders. The Trust has a Board of Directors, sometimes known as the Trust Board. This Board has a responsibility to make the best use of financial resources and deliver the services people need, to standards of safety and quality which are agreed nationally. Inclusion is important to the Trust and we are one of the only mental health Trusts in the country to be led by a Chair and Chief Executive from the BAME community. We are a friendly, values driven Trust and put our people first in the knowledge that an engaged and empowered workforce leads to good patient care. It’s a good time to join Team Derbyshire Healthcare – we are growing, with lots of exciting new developments and investment in local mental health services.

75% of our colleagues say the Trust is a good place to work or receive care. According to our staff survey we are one of the best trusts of our type, with active staff networks. We have a good mix of services; inpatient and community, children’s universal, perinatal and many more. We take the wellbeing of our colleagues seriously, champion staff engagement and have an ongoing programme of staff reward and recognition. Our main inpatient sites are Kingsway Hospital in Derby, the Radbourne Unit based on the Royal Derbyshire Hospital site in Derby, the Hartington Unit based on the Royal Derbyshire Hospital site in Chesterfield – with teams across the whole of the county. We provide Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Derby city. In Learning Disability services which we provide in Derby, we have recently formed an alliance with Derbyshire Community Health Services to lead across the county. We’re also actively involved in work across the system and region; to ensure that the NHS continues to improve the delivery of services across the patch to the communities we serve. To mark Learning Disability Week 2026, a new series of videos have been shared to support people with learning disabilities.

The videos, created as a collaboration between ARCH (Alfreton, Ripley Crich and Heanor) and Belper Primary Care Networks, provide accessible information about bowel, breast and cervical screening, as well as self-examination and recognising the signs and symptoms of ovarian and testicular cancers.

Local health professionals across Derby and Derbyshire are encouraging individuals with learning disabilities, as well as their carers, to explore a series of cancer screening videos. These videos offer accessible information and guidance and are designed not only to empower patients but also to provide valuable support for carers.

It’s Carers Week, and this year’s campaign will focus on building carer friendly communities - calling for better recognition and support for unpaid carers.

There are 5.8 million people in the UK caring for a family member, friend or neighbour who is ill, older or disabled and many find the impact of caring on their health, finances and employment opportunities a challenge.

Carers Week 2026 will shine a light on what works well at present and what must change so that unpaid carers get better recognition.

There are a whole host of activities planned for Carers Week across Derbyshire. Click on the links below to find out more:

Recognising and celebrating exceptional care is important. Highlighting positive experiences not only acknowledges the dedication of healthcare professionals, but also reassures others that support is available.

Charlotte Devlin, an Occupational Therapy Assistant who works within the Older Adults Community Mental Health Team in Chesterfield at Derbyshire Healthcare, has been recognised by a service user for the positive impact she’s made on their experience with the Trust’s service.

Charlotte, who is also a third-year Occupational Therapy apprentice at Sheffield Hallam University, supports people with a range of mental health conditions to engage in meaningful activities and increase independence within their communities.

This week, Derbyshire Healthcare will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.

Running every year since 1984, the week provides a crucial opportunity to thank volunteers and recognise the value of their time, passion and skills. The campaign highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK.

We want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our own incredible volunteers, including our Governors, League of Friends and EQUAL forum.

Your kindness, commitment and support make a meaningful difference across our services!
