The dredged material will be moved and then stored in temporary lagoons created on the site, and the water content will be reduced through a process known as dewatering.

The dredged material will then be removed from the lagoons via vacuum tankers and it will be disposed of off-site.

We have chosen not to store and dry the dredged material on site; this is due to the limited storage options and the time that the material would need to be stored to sufficiently dry it out.

Everyday emergencies like storms can disrupt the essential services you rely on—like your phone, water, power and the internet.

Taking a few simple steps to prepare can make a big difference, helping you manage while emergency support reaches those who need it most.

If you or someone you know might need extra support during a gas, electricity or water outage, they may be able to sign up for the Priority Services Register. It’s a free service that ensures utility companies know who may need extra assistance. Lots of households are eligible, including those of pensionable age, people with long-term illnesses, and families with children under 5.

Yes. Funding for the dredging project has already been committed and the Council remains committed to delivering the improvements planned for Canvey Lake.

The tender process is underway and, subject to the appointment of a suitable contractor, works are expected to commence this winter as planned.
