Little shout out to "Bill" or anyone who knows Bill as his face is now famous in Rawreth 😊

Bill we'd just like to know if you're still 49 or have you reached your milestone 50th Birthday and finished celebrating yet?

If someone could kindly let us know it would be appreciated as we really don't want to ruin Bill's celebrations by removing his Birthday wishes before the big day but equally we can't let you stay famous until you're 51 πŸ˜‰

Happy Birthday Bill πŸŽ‚ πŸ₯³ πŸŽ‰ 🎈

A message from Kat Mayfield βœ’οΈ

You know me from the cricket pitch, but there's a side to my story you might not know. For a long time I felt like I was speaking a different language to everyone else, and I struggled to find where I fit. That's exactly what inspired my new young adult novel, The Impossible Language.

It follows Megan through sixth form - exhausted, overwhelmed, misunderstood, with only her journals for sanctuary. From the outside she looks perfectly fine. Inside, she's fighting a battle she has no name for. Until someone gives her one word that explains everything: autism.

You might have a picture in your head of what autism looks like. Megan's may look a little different.

It's a coming-of-age story about finding your voice in a loud world and the life-changing impact of finally understanding your own mind.

The book isn't about cricket (maybe next timeπŸ˜‰) but Rayleigh CC has been a huge part of my community and support system, so I wanted to share it with you all first.

πŸ—žοΈHigh Court injunction - land a Lower Road/Greensward Lane

This week, the Council made an application to the High Court for an interim injunction. Following a hearing at 10pm last night (Thursday 3 September), the court granted the interim injunction.

The injunction was secured and served on site around 7am this morning (Friday 4 September).

The injunction prevents a number of steps from taking place on site until a further order of the court. This includes further unauthorised development works, bringing caravans on to the site, occupying the site or constructing buildings in breach of planning control. If the defendants disobey the injunction order they may be held in contempt of court and be imprisoned, fined or have their assets seized.

We appreciate residents patience regarding updates from the Council this week. As proceedings are ongoing and future action may be dependent on court decisions, it has not been possible for the council to comment on, or speculate about potential enforcement measures. Doing so could prejudice current or future legal proceedings.

Yesterday evening we held our first meeting after the summer recess and it was lovely to see so many new residents attending.

The meeting gave everyone the opportunity to talk to Councillors, engage with the Council and for us to listen to your questions, concerns and matters you'd like us to address on your behalf.

It was lovely to meet all of you and we look forward to welcoming you back and even more residents joining us on the 7th of October, same time 7.30pm at the John Fisher Pavilion.

Our thanks to Rayleigh FC for allowing us to use your pavilion which has enabled us to hold meetings that are completely accessible to everyone.

What a wonderful community space you have created.

3rd September 🚦traffic lights still in place so expect delays again today due to mains electricity emergency repairs.

Temporary traffic lights for emergency mains works on Rawreth Lane at the junction of Caversham Park Avenue are causing extensive delays on all routes including Rawreth Lane, London Road and the A1245.

Unfortunately we don't have anymore details but will provide any further information and updates if and when known.

We would suggest allowing at least an extra 30 minutes for journeys this evening.
