Important attendance information about tonight's Development Committee at 7pm.

Due to high public interest, we've moved the meeting to the Mill Arts and Events Centre in Rayleigh so more people can come in.

However, the Hall has a maximum capacity and entry is on a first-come, first-served basis, Doors open at 6:30pm. Once full, we won't be able to let anyone else in. This is a legal safety requirement.

💻 Can't get a seat? Watch live from home.
The meeting will be streamed live on the YouTube channel. You'll see everything in real time, including the debate and the final vote.

A reminder that planning decisions must be made on material planning considerations only. Councillors are required by law to consider each application on its planning merits. At a meeting, you are welcome to observe and scrutinise the democratic process.

We look forward to welcoming as many of you as we can on the night.

Ending the week with a Friday positive 🙌 😊

You asked, we listened 🗣👂

Today we started phase two of Rawreth Lane 🚨

We wanted to see just how much pavement was missing after years of no maintenance, we knew it was a lot but it wasn't until we put the digger to work we found just how much of the path had been eroded by land slippage.

This isn’t going to be a quick rushed job, the work will be done properly in phases to ensure the full width of the pavement is reinstated along Rawreth Lane with all spoil being removed from site.🚜

We've already had some very positive comments and we know there are other roads within the Parish that also need this work done to the pavements, bear with us as we're listening and we will get round to them.

As always a big thank you to the team 👏

We hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine 🌞

⚠️👃Update Rayleigh West Sewage Treatment Works

Having contacted Anglian Water they have stated that whilst they understand the reluctance of residents to contact them directly it is the best way for them to formally log the issues residents are experiencing and try and intervene as early as possible.

Direct discussions with Anglian Water can help pin point the issue if it's not an obvious operational problem.

Anglian Water have said that with regards to the site there has been nothing in terms of recent customer contact.

The Parish Council need to signpost all residents experiencing any issues to Anglian Water directly on 0345 791 9155 in addition you can email the Clerk at [email protected] with all the details you have reported, please ensure you include, dates, times and postcodes and the date and time you called.

Anglian Water have stated , as before, there is nothing out of the ordinary on the Rayleigh West site.

It is imperative that residents report their concerns on the day they happen so that investigations can be made to ascertain where the smell is coming from.

We will be monitoring the situation and ask that the above requested line of communication is followed to give Anglian Water the benefit of investigating complaints which they won't do if they're not aware.

In May the Parish Council were contacted about a sewage smell believed to be coming from Rayleigh West Sewage Treatment Works again.

We immediately contacted the Regional Manager from Anglian Water who we worked with last year to resolve the problem and after making enquiries with the site team he confirmed there is nothing on site out of the normal operations and that the site are not taking in any 'raw' cake (as per last year).

Anglian have said if there is a noticeable smell it's always best for customers to contact them direct by phone via their central number 0345 791 9155 that way they can despatch a technician there and then to check for any operational issues as it's more difficult to fault find when complaints are received days afterwards.

The Parish Council has been contacted again today by a couple of residents to say the smell is back.

In the first instance we would urge any residents experiencing the smell to follow the request above so that Anglian Water are given the opportunity to investigate.

We would also ask residents to keep a log of dates and times that they can provide to the Parish Council should this issue continue.

I hope this helps and reassures you that the issues experienced last year should not be happening again and that we have kept the line of communication open with Anglian Water and will ensure they investigate any reports received but we do need you in the first instance to follow the requested line of contact above.

Many thanks,
