Today is National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day and we are celebrating our often unsung heroes – our estates and facilities colleagues.

We have nearly 500 colleagues working behind the scenes at EPUT making sure our wards and offices are clean and safe, providing meals for patients, maintaining and repairing our sites, carrying out health and safety inspections, and much more.

Pictured are members of the estates and facilities team at Clifton Lodge in Westcliff on Sea.

Following the announcement that planned industrial action will no longer go ahead this week (15-19 June), we are working to reinstate patient appointments where possible.

Some patients whose clinic appointments were rescheduled in the run up to the planned strike action will be contacted directly to discuss the possibility of moving their appointment forward.

Patients who are not contacted should continue to attend the appointment they currently have scheduled.

Please call the Trust’s contact centre on 0300 123 0808 if you are unsure or have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your understanding.

This week is Infant Mental Health Awareness Week (8 – 14 June), which focuses on how attunement – or the ability to tune in and connect with others on an emotional level -helps babies to feel safe and loved.

This is one of the skills our Together with Baby team helps new parents and carers to develop, so they can strengthen their bond and relationship with their baby.

The team offer safe and non-judgmental support to help parents through any difficulties they are facing.

Watch the video to learn more about what they do, or visit https://www.eput.nhs.uk/services/together-with-baby-essex-parent-infant-mental-health-service/together-with-baby-about-us/

While the majority of our services are unaffected, some outpatient clinic appointments are being rescheduled due to planned industrial action by doctors 15 – 19 June.

All patients affected have been contacted directly with changes to their appointment dates. Please attend your appointment as usual if you have not been contacted.

Our mental health crisis line will remain available 24 hours a day throughout – call 111 and select the option for mental health for urgent support.

This Carers Week (8 – 14 June), we are highlighting some of the support available for people who have a loved one living with personality disorder and complex needs.

Our I Care peer support group meets online once a month and brings relatives and carers together to share their experiences and gain helpful advice and resources.

We also run two education programmes, Skills for Carers and Family Connections, which help them learn more about personality disorder and how they can work with their loved one to improve communication, relationships, and solving problems.
