'Where AI Helps an SME, Where It Does Not and Five Essential Controls'

Karen Stanbridge will explain where AI can provide genuine business value, where it shouldn’t be used and the five essential controls every owner should establish before AI begins influencing customers, decisions or business processes.

This free, practical 45-minute Teams briefing is for owners and directors of smaller UK SMEs, as well as solopreneurs, who want commercially grounded guidance without another demonstration of the latest AI tools.

You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of:

How to recognise a useful AI opportunity
When AI is the wrong solution
How to define its commercial purpose and data boundaries
Who remains responsible for decisions and outputs
How AI-generated work should be reviewed
What to measure before using AI more widely
One proportionate next step for your business.

As a landlord, plumber, sole trader or business, any waste you produce as part of your work is classed as commercial waste and the disposal of this waste needs to be paid for through a privately run waste operator and not at a Household Waste Recycling Centre.

If you're running a business or producing commercial waste, you have a legal duty of care to ensure that your waste is managed safely and responsibly.

To comply with your duty of care, you should use a licensed commercial waste facility or a registered waste carrier when arranging waste disposal. This could include taking waste to a privately operated waste management facility or arranging collection through a licensed waste carrier, such as a commercial waste collection or skip hire company.

Remember to keep records of how your waste has been managed, including:
-Waste transfer notes
-Receipts or invoices from your waste disposal provider

These documents help demonstrate that your waste has been handled legally and responsibly. If you transport waste yourself arising from, or as part of a business activity, you will need to have a waste carriers licence.
