Abingdon Museum invites local artists, photographers, content makers and creatives to submit artworks, photos, video or mixed media for an exhibition about the natural environment around Abingdon in a changing climate. We want to create a snapshot of our wildlife and wild spaces in 2026, through spring into autumn.

All works must be 2 dimensional. Send in photos of your work to [email protected], we have limited space to exhibit works in the Museum gallery but we will present all submissions via social media and digital gallery channels during the exhibition.

Exhibition dates 3 October to 23 December 2026

In partnership with local groups; One Planet Abingdon, Abingdon Carbon Cutters, Abingdon Naturalists Society, Green Gym & Abingdon Camera Club.

The Town Council recently attended the TAB Abingdon Youth Summit on Friday 5th June.

It was an inspiring and thought-provoking day, bringing together a wide range of organisations, community leaders and decision-makers committed to supporting young people across Abingdon.

A key message from the summit was the need for more safe, welcoming spaces where young people can socialise, build connections and access support. The discussions also highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for young people to engage with youth workers and positive adult role models.

The Town Council is committed to working alongside local organisations and partners to help address these challenges and support the wellbeing, development and future opportunities of young people in Abingdon.

North Abingdon Development

From next Monday 8th June, in addition to the north bound Lodge Hill A34 slip closure, David Wilson Homes commence 4 weeks of 4-way traffic lights at the Peachcroft Roundabout as Phase 2 of the works between them and Bellway to deliver the overall road infrastructure for North Abingdon.

RPG, the northern sites promoter and land lead, have set up a website to give information on these projects plus the District Centre part of the developments.

The web link is below:-

http://www.northabingdon.co.uk/

Key points:

On the Home Page it covers who is doing what and the working hours for David Wilson have now been confirmed as 07:00 to 20:00.

On the FAQs page at point 4, there is a link to click to ask questions. This opens an email window pre-addressed to Victoria Walker at RPG, who will deal with it. Victoria has put the website together and will be responsible for chasing and collating the developer updates every fortnight.

Once David Wilson get final confirmation from County Highways on their road space request, a planner will be added.

Bellway appear to have completed their Phase 1 2 weeks of traffic light-controlled works early, so the Twelve Acre Drive progress has been in line with programmed dates.

CONSULTATION – B4017 Bath Street (Abingdon) – Proposed Permit Parking Restrictions

We're asking for your views on the proposal to convert some of the shared-use parking provision (approx.7-8 vehicle lengths) on the B4017 Bath Street to ‘Permit Holders Only’ parking during the operational hours of Monday to Saturday, 8am-6pm (outside of these hours, parking will be unrestricted). The proposals – which have been put forward following a review after complaints from residents about the lack of available parking for permit holders – seek to help protect the parking amenity that runs through the area, and to help provide equitable provision of permit holder parking for residents in the immediate vicinity. In light of this please find the following consultation documents in comments:-

 Public Notice,
 Statement of Reasons,
 Consultation Plan(s),
 Draft Traffic Regulation Order(s).

The proposed Traffic Regulation Order is scheduled to be advertised in the Oxfordshire Herald Series newspaper today; Wednesday 03rd June 2026, and details are also available to view on the Councils consultation portal at the following link:
