Check out the amazing initiative happening at The Bishops Falls Correctional Centre !

The scene at Bishops Falls Correctional Centre today as tens of thousands of processed eyeglasses were loaded onto an Armour Transport Inc truck bound for the mainland. Our new Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre equipment will also be installed on Monday. Lions, you may begin shipping eyeglasses to BFCC again. PLEASE do so GRADUALLY so as not to overwhelm our valued partners at Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Newfoundland and Labrador and Newfoundland and Labrador Corrections. Thank you as always Jackie Warford from all of us for coordinating this massive move!

The West Coast Correctional Centre’s Hobby Shop program has made the Town of Kippens a little more colorful with the addition of four beautiful new bus shelters! This project highlights the incredible value of community partnerships within the correctional system. Programs like these play a vital role in the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of offenders by allowing them to give back in a meaningful way.
Thank you to everyone involved, and great work on improving the community space!

Thanksgiving is a time to slow down, reflect on our blessings, and appreciate the people who make our lives meaningful.

This holiday, we are especially thankful for our families, friends, neighbours, and the communities we are proud to call home. It’s the kindness, generosity, and support we share with one another that make our communities stronger.

Whether you’re gathered around the table with loved ones, making new memories, or spending the holiday helping others, we hope your Thanksgiving is filled with warmth, laughter, and gratitude.

From our corrections family to yours, we wish you a safe, happy, and wonderful Thanksgiving! 🧡🍂

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the generations who continue to carry the lasting impacts.

May we continue to listen to Indigenous voices, learn from the truths of the past, and recognize that reconciliation is not limited to one day but is an ongoing commitment we all share.

Today, and every day, we remember. We honour. We stand together.

Every Child Matters 🧡
