The Southeast Alberta Economic Opportunity Strategy continues to drive meaningful action across our region. Following the Strategy's release, the County of Forty Mile No. 8 has been awarded provincial funding through the Northern and Regional Economic Development (NRED) grant to advance priorities identified in the regional plan.

The project will enhance our region's ability to attract new investment, support local producers, provide regulatory clarity, and advance emerging agricultural technologies and innovations. With participation from the City of Medicine Hat, Town of Redcliff, Town of Bow Island, Village of Foremost, and industry and institutional partners, this initiative demonstrates strong regional commitment to economic diversification.

Together, we're creating the tools and resources needed to support agriculture and agri-food growth across Southeast Alberta.

What makes a downtown vibrant? According to Andrea Pillman, practice manager at River Dental, it's more than just busy streets. River Dental Building has been part of that community since 1950. Home to River Dental and several other healthcare-centered professional businesses, the building recently completed renovations through the City Centre Vibrancy Program. The project focused on converting two outdated washrooms—one into an accessible, gender-neutral washroom and the other into a laundry room with a utility sink.

These practical improvements help the building better serve health-focused tenants and meet the operational needs of professionals in the wellness sector. Through programs like the City Centre Vibrancy Program, offered in partnership with Community Futures Entre-Corp Business Development, property and business owners can access financial support for improvements that make downtown spaces more functional, welcoming, and attractive.
