🚒 BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT YOUR LOCAL FIRE BRIGADE! 🚒

🚒 BIG NEWS – A MAJOR FLEET UPGRADE!

Another exciting development, the arrival of a replacement appliance for our ageing single-cab grassland truck.

We now have TWO Category 1 village fire appliances, a significant upgrade for our brigade and a huge win for our community.

This gives us greater flexibility in managing emergency responses, increased equipment-carrying capacity and the ability to deploy larger crews across both appliances.

Importantly, both trucks are equipped to respond to a much broader range of incidents, from bushfires and running grass, crop fires through to structural fires and other emergency situations.

This investment significantly strengthens our operational capability and ensures we are better equipped to protect our community when it matters most.

Structure Fire

At approximately 11:53 last night we along with multiple brigades and services responded to calls of a structure fire with persons reported. Upon leaving the station it was observed to be a going fire and the response escalated.

Crews arrived a short time after and where advised all persons accounted for. Crews commenced a defensive attack to protect exposures. Unfortunately despite everyone’s best efforts the home sustained major damage.

In total 8 firefighting appliances and approx 25 firefighters attended and worked hard for several hours. Crews completed operations around 4am.

Uranquinty, Yarragundry, Lake Albert, The Rock RFBs, Fire And Rescue Turvey Park, Henty, Riverina Support along with NSWPolice, Ambulance and the power authority attended and worked extremely well together.

Our thoughts are with the family.

🔥 A permit is required to light fires in the open. Permits are free from your local Rural Fire Brigade or Fire Control Centre.

🌾 Recent spring rain has produced plenty of grass and crop growth, and as it dries out it can carry fast-moving grass fires.

🚜 Last season we saw significant fire activity from harvesting and hot works used in the open. If you’re harvesting, or working with angle grinders or welders, have adequate fire protection on hand before you start.

🛡️ Now is the time to maintain your fire breaks around key farm assets like sheds, machinery, fuel and grain storage, and homesteads.

📱 Download the Hazards Near Me app for real-time fire information, fire danger ratings, total fire bans and harvest safety alerts.

Busy couple of days for our amazing crews.

Yesterday around 8am 2 crews responded to a fully involved structure fire at The Rock. Crews assisted The Rock RFB with internal suppression , water supply and attack. Yarragundry, FR 472,480 also attended and a combined effort bought the fire under control within 30 minutes. Crews returned home around 10am.

Today we have a crew assisting with a grass fire near Brookdale assisting other RFS units.

Over the past few weeks our crew have undertaken training in operating Breathing Apparatus. This will continue until the end of the month.
