⚔️🏉 GORDY GLADIATORS – RUGBY LEAGUE 🏉⚔️

Couple of BIG days of footy for our Year 9/10 girls at the NRL Gala Day and boys at the Bentley 7's!

Girls NRL Gala Day

Our girls showed plenty of resilience in extremely hot and humid conditions! They stuck together, played tough and had plenty of fun along the way.

The day finished with our girls joining forces with Good Counsel College and Woree SHS to take on Smithfield and St Monica's in some 13-a-side footy. Plenty of skill, toughness and great teamwork on display!

A special shout-out to Tia, who was named Players' Player for the day!

Boys Bentley 7's

The smallest squad in the competition, but certainly no shortage of heart! Our boys showed plenty of skill, courage and toughness, battling their way through to the semi-finals before going down to St Andrew's.

Despite a few bumps and bruises, the boys stuck together, dug deep and learnt plenty about themselves along the way.

A special shout-out to Kayla, who was named Players' Player for the day!

Plenty to be proud of from both groups!

⚔️🏉 UP THE MIGHTY GLADIATORS ⚔️🏉

Today, our staff and students celebrated our Year 12s as they completed their final official day of school before external exams. As they left school for the last time, they walked through a guard of honour—a wonderful send-off for a special cohort.

We’re incredibly proud of every student and wish them all the best in their exams. We look forward to celebrating together at their Graduation Ceremony on 19 November! 🎓

GOLD COAST TITANS ALL SCHOOLS COMPETITION

Last week students from Gordonvale SHS travelled to the Gold Coast to compete at the Gold Coast Titans All Schools competition. The students played extremely well showing true skill and sportsmanship when coming up against some big schools. They won 5 out of 6 of their round games with scores of 12-0, 5-4, 7-8, 9-3, 11-2 and 5-1.
This impressive score tally took them too the Round of 16 finals as they placed 11th out of the 76 schools in their category.
Unfortunately, the team narrowly lost their round of finals 2-5 which had them out of the competition.

The students showed incredible respect and sportsmanship to each other, the officials and other teams showing true Gordonvale SHS values. An extra congratulations to Cooper who won player’s player for the games (voted by the team) for his can-do attitude and unfaltering positivity towards his fellow players, and Tyler who won coach’s player for his performance and positive attitude on and off the field.

A big thank you to Miss Gammie, Mr Sperring and Miss Goggin who accompanied the team which took a lot of organisation and dedication of time over the weekend.

This wraps up this team’s touch football journey for 2026 as the school says goodbye to long term participants of our touch team who are graduating this year and we wait to see where they will go in 2027.
