The chikdren have been using nature and exploring the creative arts to see how they can utilise Gods natural environment and incorporate into their art work; learning different techniques looking at texture, shapes, colours and patterns. To extend on our lice for the outdoors and create a unique Christmas gift for mum and dad. The children wanted to make art from nature utilising various elements of nature to make a statement about both nature and humanity's relationship to nature. Making a Clay dough nature Mobile learning different techniques in drying flowers, suze, placement, design and the interdependence between, land and plants. Being able to explore their world with all of their senses, to see their evolving creation.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and wishing everyone a happy, safe and prosperous New Year from Tropical Rugrats.

The theme this year for National Recycling Week is to value your resources giving them a second life by reducing valuable materials out of landfill to benefit the environment. All the children embraced our upcycling activities using the creative arts and experimenting with ways of expressing ideas and meaning using a range of media. Giving old used CD and scraps of fabric to make sun catches and material bowl to store our valuable resources. Learning and developing an awareness of the impact of human activity on our environment for future generations.

National Recycling week "Let all become better at recycling and managing our rubbish"
The children embraced Recycling week with a variety rich and meaningful inquired-based learning activities. They demonstrated their knowledge in sorting, categorising and comparing a selection of house hold items into either the Recycling bin, Compost or cloths bin. Lots of discussion came about as the children learnt which bin they thought we should use. Discovering some items could go into two different bins to help reduce our waste going into landfill.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM DAY is a global movement to inspire and celebrate outdoor play and learning. Tropical Rugrats embraces their outdoor class room daily learning through play. This week was even more special as this year's theme is love the outdoors. My beautiful little ones took to nature with great enthusiasm as they explored their natural surrounding to find flower and leaves of all shapes and sizes to dry for a collage activity they are creating for their parents for Christmas.

Tropical Rugrats celebrated Rosh Hashanah today. Rosh Hashanah is a special festival which celebrates Jewish New Year. It means Head of the Year. Rosh Hashanah is a celebration of the creation of the world and marks making a fresh start. The children participated in a rich and meaningful inquired-based cooking activity making traditional Honey Cake to symbols of hope for a sweet year to come. Showing how they are able to learn different cultures and traditions through cooking. Cooking is a great way encouraging children's thinking, problem-soloving and creativity. It allows children the opportunity to use the knowledge they have and apply it through counting, measuring, following a sequence, direction and cause and effect.

Father's day is a time to celebrate fatherhood in all its forms both individual fathers and the impact of Father's on society, and what better way to show our dads how much they are loved, appreciated and admired, through their sons and daughters eyes; is to create a unique gift from the heart. The children drew on their Father's special moments they spend together using the creative arts and experimenting different ways to express ideas and make meaning using a range of media. By creating individually designed shirts, discovering how bleach can change the contrast of the shirts colour, using templates to create their unique design and gift. For a shirt that will be cherished for years to come and made with love. HAPPY FATHERES DAY YO ALL OUR WONDERFUL DADS.

National Science week is being celebrated all across Australia with the theme Food different by design. It honours the United Nations International Year of Fruit's and Vegetables and the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainability Development. To celebrate National Science week and to allow the children to explore how different food substances when mixed together give off a chemical reaction. Using a variety of colours in our experiment added extra effect while learning colour mixing. Science helps children to develop their ability to ask questions, collect information, organise and test their ideas, solve problems and apply what they are learning. Using Bicarbonate Soda, vinegar and food colouring the children's little minds exploded with curiosity as the coloured vinegar reacted to the bicarb creating lots of mini exploding volcanoes, as the word bubbles was voiced with joy and excitement. Creating a wonderful explosive abstract food art piece. As the children broaden their understanding of the world in which they live.
