Special event TODAY at IBSP!

Have you ever wondered about the military history in your own backyard?

Adeline Jay Geo-Karis IBSP is home to the site of the former Camp Logan. This site trained thousands of soldiers, sailors, airmen, and FBI agents from the late 1800s until it was finally closed in 1973.

Today from 1:00pm-2:30pm, come to the IBSP Nature Center in our South Unit for a special presentation on Camp Logan history from guest naturalist Ron Rightweiser.
Following the presentation, Ron will lead a guided tour and Q&A through the former Camp Logan grounds, including normally off-limits areas and historic buildings!

Military artifacts will be on display and refreshments will be served! No registration required, just show up!

Special Military History event TOMORROW at IBSP!

Join guest naturalist Ron Rightweiser for a special presentation on the military history of IBSP. Ron has spent the summer researching the storied history of Camp Logan, a former U.S. military base located in what is now our North Unit. Ron will present our new story map tool for exploring this history and will host questions.

Military artifacts will also be on display!

After the presentation, Ron will host a special guided walk and Q and A in the former Camp Logan grounds. Great for military history buffs!
Date/Time: October 25th and November 7th, 1:00-
2:30 p.m., guided walk will begin at 3:00 p.m.

Come by our Nature Center from 1:00pm-3:00pm to meet some incredible and sometimes misunderstood animals!

Snakes, rats, and other "spooky" animals play an incredible role in the natural environment. Come by and meet some of them in person!

End of Season public beach cleanup at IBSP!

Help us welcome Fall by giving the beach one last
cleanup as the season changes! Join Illinois
Beach State Park staff and fellow beachgoers for a
community cleanup along the Lake Michigan
shoreline. It’s a great way to give back, enjoy the
changing season, and help keep our beach
beautiful for wildlife and visitors alike. Bring your
friends, family, and a pair of gloves, we’ll take care
of the rest!
