Today, the Pilot Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle incident with entrapment on NC39 at Johnson Town Road. Crews responded quickly and worked together to remove occupants from each vehicle. Special thanks to our mutual aid partners in Bunn for providing manpower and Air Ambulance Landing Zone support. Fortunately, crews were able to successfully remove the injured patients prior to the launch of an air ambulance. All patients were transported by ground to area hospitals. Pilot FD responded with 2 Engines, 1 Squad, 1 EMS support unit, 1 Chief, and 7 personnel.

The members of Pilot Fire Department extend our heartfelt condolences to Durham Fire Department following the tragic loss of one of their own. We also extend our support to the two firefighters who were injured. Our hearts are with the fallen firefighter’s family, the injured firefighters, their fellow brothers and sisters in the fire service, and the entire Durham Fire Department family during this difficult time.

When one of our own is lost, the entire fire service feels the pain. We stand beside Durham Fire Department and their families today and in the difficult days ahead. May the sacrifice and service of their fallen firefighter never be forgotten.

Members from the Pilot Fire Department joined our mutual aid partners for a live-burn training exercise last night. Companies from the following departments participated in a nighttime fire ground drill hosted by Ferrells Fire Department: Ferrells, Spring Hope, Stan Hope, Bailey, Middlesex, Zebulon, and Pilot. This type of training enhances our ability to come together and function as a well-organized team.

Please join us in congratulating Deputy Chief Kenny Williams on his new (to us) chief's buggy! Chief Williams has served our department for over 51 years. We appreciate his leadership and dedication. Chief Williams currently serves as our fire life safety and community outreach coordinator.

Crash on US-64 eastbound near Carlyle Road today. Crews responded at 05:15AM. Two vehicles, minor injuries. Four (4) apparatus and 7 fire personnel.

Pilot FD responded to a structure fire in Zebulon yesterday afternoon off of Bunn Road. 2 Engines and 8 personnel from PFD.
