At 10:22pm on Sunday, August 16, 2026 automatic fire alarms at Bunn High School alerted Franklin County NC Emergency Communications who dispatched Bunn Rural Fire Department where firefighters were quickly able to locate and extinguish a small fire in a classroom. Additional response agencies included Franklin County NC Emergency Medical Services - EMS, Sheriff Kevin White’s Deputies, Pilot Fire Department, and Justice Fire Department & Justice Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Franklin County Fire Marshal’s office is on scene conducting an investigation into how the fire started.
