PRESS RELEASE
SUBJECT: Residential search warrant
DATE: 16 April 2026
DATE OF RELEASE: 20 April 2026
PREPARED BY: Chief William Dodge
On 16 April 2026, Barre Town Police, assisted by Barre City Police, executed a residential search warrant in Barre Town. As a result, 2.3 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, 6.3 grams of suspected Crack Co***ne, 7.9 grams of suspected Hallucinogenic Mushrooms, several fi****ms, and evidence of suspected drug sales were located.
Based on the items located, William Bryant, 37 years of age, of Barre Town was taken into custody. Bryant was charged with Co***ne Sales, Methamphetamine Sales, Possession of Hallucinogenic Drugs, Possession of Fi****ms as a Prohibited Person, and Possession of Stolen Property. In addition, Bryant had an outstanding arrest warrant for a probation violation.
Bryant was arraigned the following day, where the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office asked that he be held without bail. The court denied this request. A request was then made for $10,000 bail, which again was denied by the court. Bail was imposed at $1,000.00.
It should also be noted that Bryant was previously arrested on 30 March 2026 by Barre Town Police, and charged with Co***ne Possession, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Justice, and Violation of Court Ordered Conditions of Release.
I appreciate the work by the Washington County State’s Attorney’s office, specifically the assigned Deputy State’s Attorney, in their requests made to the Court. I also appreciate the work of the Barre Town Officers who put this warrant request together.
