Still Waiting to Hear Back?
You've submitted your application, checked your phone, and watched your email. Days go by, maybe even weeks, and you haven't heard anything.
It's frustrating, especially when you're ready and willing to work.
But what actually happens after you submit an application?
Depending on the employer, the hiring process may involve reviewing dozens of applications, checking qualifications, coordinating interviews, and obtaining approvals before anyone receives a call.
While you're waiting, here are a few things worth remembering:
• Keep applying. Don't put your entire job search on hold while waiting for one employer.
• Don’t be afraid to follow up with an email. If you haven’t heard back in a week or so, send an email. Let them know you applied, you are still interested, and you were hoping for some feedback. Make sure to reiterate the job you applied for and your qualifications.
• Check your contact information. Make sure your voicemail is set up, your inbox isn't full, and you're checking your spam folder.
• Watch for updates. Some employers communicate through online application portals rather than phone calls.
• Give the process some time. Hiring timelines vary, and some positions take longer to fill than others.
• Keep track of your applications. Record where you applied, when you applied, and any responses you receive.
And remember: Not hearing back doesn't automatically mean you weren't qualified. Sometimes another candidate's experience is a closer match, hiring priorities change, or the position is placed on hold. Stay positive and be patient. You’ve got this!

Started the morning out representing Waycross and Ware County in support of our largest industry, agriculture. This morning we are at South Georgia State College, Douglas Campus for the Joint Study Committee of the Georgia House and Senate Agriculture leadership.

Thank you Ag Commissioner Tyler Harper and Senator Russ Goodman for all you do for our agriculture community.
