The Kosciusko County Emergency Management is now offering Community Emergency Response Team training.

The Kosciusko County Emergency Management Agency is dedicated to help our community mitigate, prepare, respond, and recover from either a manmade or natural disaster. If you are a group from a church, neighborhood, business, or any other service group call for information.

If you’re out the door early this morning, you may notice patchy dense fog. Otherwise, increasing high clouds today and not nearly as warm as yesterday with highs only in the 60s. Plenty of dry time on Halloween, but there can be a few pesky showers around mainly west of I-69.

A cold front sweeping through today brings a chance for isolated showers and cooler, but still above-normal temperatures. Plenty of dry time on Halloween, but we are monitoring the chance for some passing showers.

A cool front will move through the area on Thursday and bring a slight chance for some light showers (best chances north of US-24) and cooler weather.

📸 Snap a photo. Take a clear picture of your children before heading out so you have a current photo showing their clothing and shoes.

📍 Pick a meeting spot. Choose a specific, easy-to-find location and make sure everyone understands the plan.

🦺 Point out helpers. Show children which event staff, security personnel, or police officers they can ask for help.

📱 Keep your phone charged and help children learn your phone number.

🚨 If your child goes missing, notify event staff or law enforcement immediately.

Day one is in the books at the 2026 Emergency Management Alliance of Indiana (EMAI) annual conference!
Kosciusko County EMA Director Kip Shuter and Deputy Gene Reed are spending the week connecting with emergency managers, IDHS, first responders, the National Weather Service, and several other public safety partners from across the state. Today’s sessions focused on emerging disaster response strategies, and coordinated resource sharing.

Training and collaboration like this ensure Kosciusko County stays prepared, resilient, and ready to respond whenever severe weather or unexpected emergencies arise.

After nearly two weeks of dry weather, a weak cold front provides our first chance for light rain on Thursday. It also brings cooler temps, but even those are expected to still stay above normal. Light rain is possible again Saturday, mainly west of I-69.
