The Thornton Fire Department would like to proudly congratulate Captain Maureen Schweitzer on her retirement. After 24 years, we honor her dedicated service to the fire department and the community.
Throughout her career she has made a lasting impact, not only on the community she has served, but also on the firefighters and personnel who have had the privilege of working alongside her. The lessons taught, the memories made, and the lives touched will always be a part of her legacy. As President of Local 5512, she has also devoted her time and energy to representing her fellow firefighters and advocating for her union brothers and sisters. As she closes this chapter and begins a well-deserved retirement, we hope she looks back on her career with immense pride. 24 years of service is an incredible accomplishment, and the difference she has made will continue to be felt long after her final shift.
Captain Mo you have served with honor, led with heart and left a legacy worth celebrating. Thank you for everything you have given to this department, this union, and this community. Enjoy every moment of the retirement you have so rightfully earned. As a final meaningful tribute, Captain Schweitzer was given a ride home in Engine 45.
Congratulations, Capt.! Happy Retirement!
