Subject Located and Arrested Following Two-Day Search
On October 26, 2026, deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence incident in Clarington, Ohio. Upon arrival, the suspect, Danzig K. Williams, age 30, of Clarington, fled the residence and ran into a wooded area.
Deputies deployed a thermal drone and K9 Odin to assist in locating Williams; however, the initial search was unsuccessful.
On the evening of October 27, 2026, deputies received information indicating that Williams was in the area of Brey Hollow Road near Sardis, Ohio. While responding to the area, deputies observed Williams, who again fled on foot into a wooded area.
A thermal drone was deployed, and Williams was located hiding in the woods near a roadside ditch. K9 Odin was then deployed, and Williams subsequently surrendered to K9 Odin and responding deputies.
Williams is currently being housed at the Monroe County Jail on charges of Violation of a Temporary Protection Order (TPO), Domestic Violence, and Strangulation.
A Message from Sheriff Derek Norman
I want to make one thing very clear: We take these calls very seriously, and we don’t give up. If you think running into the woods is going to keep you from going to jail, you’re going to be disappointed. We have the technology, the training, and some four-legged deputies who are more than happy to help you find your way back out of those woods. You can make it difficult, but you’re only making it harder on yourself.
I also want to sincerely thank our community for the continued support of this office. I especially want to thank the Monroe County Commissioners for providing the funding that allows us to equip our deputies with the tools, technology, and training necessary to make difficult arrests like this possible and, most importantly, as safe as possible for everyone involved.
I’m proud of the determination and professionalism shown by our deputies. Running doesn’t end the investigation. It just changes how we come find you.
Sheriff Derek Norman
