Preparedness starts with taking simple steps before an emergency happens. Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing information and resources to help you and your family become better prepared for the unexpected.

One of the best places to start? Build an emergency kit. 🎒

Think about what your household would need if normal routines were disrupted. Food, water, medications, important documents, supplies for pets, and even a few comfort items can make a big difference.

Don’t wait until you need it. Build your kit before the emergency.

The Springboro Police Department is looking for full-time Dispatch/Records Clerks to join our team!

While our officers are out in the community, there is an entire team inside the department helping keep things running. Our office staff plays a vital role every single day—maintaining records, assisting officers, answering questions, helping community members who walk through our doors, processing information, and providing the support that helps our department operate efficiently.

This position is perfect for someone who is:

💻 Organized and detail-oriented
☎️ Comfortable multitasking and communicating with the public
🤝 Friendly, professional, and ready to help others
🧠 Able to learn new systems and processes
📋 Comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment
💙 Interested in being part of something bigger than just a typical office job

No two days are exactly alike. One moment you may be assisting someone at the front desk, the next helping an officer locate important information, processing records, answering phones, or helping a community member navigate the services available to them.

You may work behind the scenes, but the work you do makes a difference.

Experience in criminal justice is preferred, but not required. We are looking for the right people and are willing to train!

OUR SECOND NICE ICE WINNER IS HERE!

Sometimes kindness looks like holding a door open or sharing a smile.

And sometimes, kindness looks like noticing that someone is alone and deciding they shouldn’t have to be.

We are excited to recognize our second Nice Ice Award winner, Edward!

After school, Edward was at the K&W Drive-In when he encountered another child who was trying to meet up with a friend. Unfortunately, the friend never arrived. The child had walked back and forth between the school and the ice cream shop looking for them and didn’t have a phone—or even know his mom’s phone number—to call for help.

Edward could have simply continued on with his day.

Instead, he noticed.

He cared.

And he decided to help.

Edward walked the child safely down the road, pushed the crosswalk button, looked carefully in every direction, crossed with him, and made sure he got where he needed to go safely before returning to his own ride.

When his mom watched the whole thing happen and later asked who he had been walking with, she assumed it was one of his friends.

His answer?

He didn’t know him.

He simply didn’t want him to have to walk alone.

And THAT is exactly why Edward is our next Nice Ice Award winner.

Character isn’t always demonstrated when someone is watching. Sometimes it is found in those quiet moments when we have absolutely nothing to gain by helping someone else.

Edward saw a kid who needed help.

He didn’t know him.

He didn’t have to get involved.

But he chose kindness anyway.

And those are exactly the moments worth celebrating.

Congratulations, Edward! We are incredibly proud of you and hope your story reminds others—both young and old—that looking out for one another can make a bigger difference than we may ever realize.

Building connections, one conversation (and one belly rub) at a time!

Officer Morgan and Officer Blue were invited to spend the afternoon with the wonderful community at Empowered Community Services, and they had the BEST time!

The goal was simple: create an opportunity for individuals to meet and interact with a police officer in a relaxed, comfortable, non-stressful environment—and ask all the questions they wanted!

They talked, laughed, answered questions, and hopefully helped make a police officer feel a little less intimidating and a lot more approachable. Because sometimes, building trust starts with simply sitting down and having a conversation.

And Officer Blue? Well… he had a very important job to do.

Endless. Supply. Of. Pets.
And somehow, he managed to survive the assignment.

A huge thank you to Empowered for inviting us and creating a space where community members can connect, learn, and feel comfortable with the people who serve them.

We’ll always be happy to show up—with open ears, open arms, and a very pettable police dog.

🧊 Meet Our First Nice Ice Award Winner!

Emma-Kate is officially our first-ever Nice Ice Award winner!

Emma-Kate was nominated by someone in her school because she consistently stands out for her kindness, encouragement, and willingness to help others. In fact, she’s even been known to stop what she’s doing to patiently teach other students something as simple—but important—as how to tie their shoes.

Those little moments of kindness are exactly what the Nice Ice Award is all about: recognizing kids who make a difference in the lives of others simply by being kind, helpful, and encouraging.

We’ve received quite a few nominations from parents who nominated their own children, and we absolutely love seeing how proud you are of your kids! We’re going to put those nominations together for a drawing as well.

That said, we’re especially looking for nominations from people outside a child’s immediate family—teachers, classmates, coaches, neighbors, community members, or anyone who has witnessed a child going above and beyond to make someone else’s day a little better.

So keep those nominations coming! We want to celebrate the kids in our community who are spreading kindness when they think nobody is watching.

Happy National Dog Day from everyone’s favorite police pup, Officer Blue!

The weather is beautiful, so it’s a perfect day to grab your best four-legged friend and enjoy some time outside!

Officer Blue does have one important reminder: When you’re in City parks, your pup must be on a leash—even if they’re the BESTEST good boy or girl!

It’s not just good manners—it’s the law. (Springboro Ordinance 618.01)

So leash up, get outside, and enjoy National Dog Day with your furry family members!

🚨 COMMUNITY HELP NEEDED 🚨

Springboro Police officers are attempting to identify the parent or guardian of a 3-year-old child who was found wandering alone at the Meribel Apartments.

The child is safe and currently with police, but we need your help locating her family.

If you recognize this child or know who her parent or guardian may be, please contact the Springboro Police Department immediately at (937) 748-0611.

Please share this post so we can reach as many people as possible and help reunite this little one with her family.

Our community is at its best when we look out for one another. Let’s help get this little girl safely home.
