📣Shawnee Town 1929 is a proud member of the Blue Star Museums Program, in which all active-duty military personnel receive 🌟FREE ADMISSION🌟 to the museum!

Simply present a military ID at the front desk to get you and up to 5 (five) family members free general admission, now through Labor Day. This program is available to all those currently serving in the U.S. Military: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, Coast Guard (including Reservists), National Guardsman (regardless of status), U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, and NOAA Commissioned Corps.

The Museum is open Tuesday - Saturday 10:00am to 4:30pm. General admission includes Time Travelers and History Highlight Tour days! You can plan your visit at www.ShawneeTown.org.

✨Shawnee Town 1929 Museum is pleased to announce, for the second time in as many years, we have received a NATIONAL AWARD!✨

On June 12th, The American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) proudly announced that Shawnee Town 1929 Museum is the recipient of an Award of Excellence for their Multimedia Visitor Tour App. 🌟🏆 The AASLH Leadership in History Awards are the most prestigious national recognition for achievement in state and local history.

Statement from Museum Director Charlie Pautler: "We are so excited to share this news with our public. We also want to thank those staff and volunteers from 20+ years ago who collected oral histories from the children of the 1920's and 30's, who willingly shared their lives and experiences--and which are now central to this relevant program to which our modern-day audience can connect. The most important aspect of this multimedia tour is its depth - that it provides rich details on what life was like in our small town of Shawnee, yet which reflected the larger shared experiences of nearby Kansas City and the Midwest region as a whole.”

"I would like to thank our staff and volunteers for doing the work, and the City of Shawnee for the funding to make this happen. All work except sound recording/engineering was done in-house - which saved the city several thousand dollars. Thank you to our local history partners at Johnson County Museum and the Kansas City Public Library for their wonderful archival collections. Thank you to Curator of Education Hannah Howard for writing the scripts, bringing in the voice actors, and working with the app developer to bring the idea to a reality. It was a team effort, and everyone's small part counted in helping us win this national award."
