Severe weather can develop quickly in Sevier County, especially during late summer. Take a moment today to double‑check your readiness:
• Make sure emergency alerts are turned on in your phone settings.
• Review your family’s communication and meet‑up plan.
• Refresh your emergency kit—water, flashlights, batteries, medications, and important documents.
• Stay aware of changing weather conditions throughout the day.

Sevier County is proud to host the Response to Bombing Incidents (RBI) course, presented by New Mexico Tech’s Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center (EMRTC).

Over the next two days, local, state, and regional public safety partners are coming together to strengthen their knowledge and skills in preparing for, responding to, and managing the immediate aftermath of explosive incidents.

We’re grateful to have representatives from Waldens Creek Fire Department, Dollywood Security and Safety, Sevier County Fire and Rescue, Pigeon Forge Fire Department, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, Sevierville Police Department, Catons Chapel- Richardson Cove Volunteer Fire Department, Sevier County Medical Examiner’s Office, Sevier County Rescue Squad, Sevier County Ambulance Service, Sevier County Emergency Management Agency, and Oak Ridge Fire Department participating in this important training.

Strong partnerships and continued training help make Sevier County and our region better prepared to protect our communities. Thank you to all of our participating agencies and EMRTC instructors for investing in preparedness and response.

Never drive through a road covered by water. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Water can be deeper and moving faster than it appears, and conditions can change quickly. If you encounter flooding, turn around and find another route.

Please slow down, remain alert, and use caution while traveling.

Dangerous heat is expected across the area, with heat index values reaching 105–110°F. Stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities, and take frequent breaks indoors or in the shade.

A cold front later today may also bring strong to severe thunderstorms, with the potential for damaging winds and isolated flash flooding. Secure outdoor items, avoid flooded roads, and always remember to Turn Around, Don't Drown!

High temps and humidity are expected through the weekend, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Stay safe:

💦 Drink water and avoid alcohol/sugary drinks.
🌳 Take breaks in shade or AC.
👕 Wear light clothing and sunscreen.
😷 Watch for heat‑exhaustion signs like dizziness or nausea.
🐾 Check on older adults, children, and pets.
🌪 Storms may pop up—be ready to head indoors.
⚡ If you hear thunder, go inside and stay away from windows.

The US National Weather Service Morristown Tennessee has extended the Flash Flood Warning to 2:30 AM.

Some local roadways may be impacted by flooding. Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to stay off the roads unless travel is necessary or you are leaving an area impacted by water.

If you encounter flooding:

• Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn around and find another route.
• Seek higher ground if water is rising around you.
• Be especially cautious at night, when it can be difficult to see flooded roads and other hazards.
