Texas is strong in the manufacturing industry, but how do we ensure it stays competitive as technology continues to evolve?

In this opinion article, SEDC Executive Director Alora Wachholz and Carolyn Lee, President of the Manufacturing Institute, explore why preparing workers to use artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies will be critical to Texas’s industrial future.

Technology is changing how manufacturers operate, but people will remain at the center of that progress. Investing in training and developing the skills workers need to adapt will be essential to sustaining Texas’s manufacturing growth.

To assist with this training, the Manufacturing Institute launched its new AI Skills Initiative. “AI Fundamentals for Manufacturing,” which will provide learners a baseline understanding of AI, its applications across the industry, and insight into its advantages for safety, productivity, and efficiency.
