We're looking for a strong, motivated individual to join our dispatch team. This can be a very high stress position, requiring a strong ability to multi-task. We will train for the position, but completing and passing the Emergency Medical Dispatch course will be required. Strong computer, radio and phone skills are required. Starting pay is $16.00, advancing to $17.50 per hour upon EMD Certification. All employment offers are subject to passing drug screen. These are 12 hour shifts starting at 7:00 am for days, 7:00 pm for nights. You must be available to work either shift. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Medical Dispatchers are the first link to saving someone’s life. Dispatchers gather information about medical emergencies and provide instructions to callers until help arrives, while dispatching medical emergency personnel such as ambulances to scenes. Dispatchers also take non-emergency transfer information and schedule transports; they must obtain proper documentation and information for each transfer.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires computer knowledge and understanding.
Requires sitting for long periods of time.
Requires working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours.
Requires being able to stay awake during long periods on overnight shifts.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires staying calm and composed during high stress emergency events.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: High stress and time sensitive situations.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Must possess strong problem solving skills
Ability to multitask and work under pressure
Knowledge in non-emergency transport documentation and requirements.
Computer Skills
Education: Must have a High school diploma or GED.
Certificate/License: CPR certification and completion of an EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) course offered through the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch.
