You allowed me to get abused. Jeff told me that years ago he asked if you wanted to go to the courts to get custody of me, and you said, "No."
You saw the signs of emotional and physical abuse when you went to visit me when I was in the third grade. You watched him call me fat. You watched me flinch at him. You saw that, but you still decided to not go to the courts with Jeff to get me out of that situation. You had years to contact me to get the evidence of my abuse to get me out of my situation, yet you still decided to not do anything. My dad could have killed me. I could have attempted su***de. I had a very good chance of ending up dead, but you're so self-centered and irresponsible that you were out vacationing in Europe and Asia while my dad was beating me, threatening to murder me, and emotionally abusing me. Don't play ignorant. You absolutely knew the nature of this person before you decided to abandon me with him.
When I told you that he severely abused me my entire childhood, your response was to victim blame me by asking, "Why didn't you just call the police?" If you don't know what victim blaming is, look it up. It astounds me that you are completely devoid of empathy.
You are a textbook narcissist. To think that I would forgive you after all of this and be fine and dandy with you in my life is delusional. Jayme hates you, too. Don't ever contact her if you are still aware of Doug's abuse, but you have made no attempt to help Jayme get out of her situation.
