🏄🎃 The excitement was high at the Copper Ridge Fall Pep Rally as our 8th graders took on the hilarious Surf or Scream challenge! With plenty of laughs, cheers, and pumpkin-themed fun, both teams gave it their all—but in the end, the Pumpkin Team rode the wave to victory! 🎉👏

🏺🔍 Unearthing History in Sixth Grade! 🔍🏺

Students in Mrs. Gerding’s sixth grade social studies class have been diving into the fascinating world of archaeology through a project on carbon-14 dating. As they analyzed artifacts and explored how scientists determine the age of ancient objects, students brought history to life through hands-on learning and critical thinking.

With decades of experience in SUSD, Mrs. Gerding has a special gift for making complex topics engaging and accessible. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for teaching spark curiosity in her students and inspire them to ask questions, think deeply, and connect with the past in meaningful ways.

Learning is always an adventure in Mrs. Gerding’s classroom, and our Trailblazers are discovering that history is much more than dates and facts... it's a story waiting to be uncovered! 🌟

Did you know that Copper Ridge has Panda students integrated directly into our Pre-K classroom? This unique learning environment provides all students with opportunities to learn, play, and grow together each day, fostering acceptance, empathy, and belonging from an early age.

Leading this incredible classroom are Mrs. Galvin and Mrs. Paschal, two experienced early childhood educators with decades of combined experience serving SUSD families. Their dedication to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment ensures that every child is valued, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.

Through thoughtful instruction, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to meeting the needs of all learners, Mrs. Galvin and Mrs. Paschal help make their classroom a place where every student can thrive. 📚✨ Growing Readers, One Letter at a Time! ✨📚

Students in Mrs. Leathers’ first grade class have been strengthening their reading and writing skills by practicing CVC words. Starting with a two-letter word, students added one more letter to build new words, helping them make important connections between sounds, letters, and word patterns.

Through engaging lessons and purposeful practice, our young learners are building a strong foundation in literacy while gaining confidence in their abilities. Mrs. Leathers’ classroom is a place where students feel supported, encouraged, and excited to learn. Her positive learning environment helps every child grow, take risks, and thrive.

It’s wonderful to see our first graders developing the skills that will support their success for years to come! 💙🖤

🍎💙 A Sweet Thank You to Our PTO! 💙🍎

A big thank you to our amazing Copper Ridge PTO for the delicious treats they provided for our staff on Friday, October 23rd! Your generosity, thoughtfulness, and continued support mean so much to our teachers and staff.

The treats were a wonderful surprise and a reminder of how fortunate we are to have such a caring and supportive school community. Thank you for all you do to show appreciation for our Copper Ridge team!

Public speaking takes practice, preparation, and confidence! 🎤✨ Students in Mrs. Gerding’s Speech & Debate class are hard at work rehearsing their TED Talks, refining their presentations, and building the skills needed to share their ideas with an audience. From practicing eye contact and vocal delivery to strengthening their messages, these students are learning the art of effective communication.
We can't wait to see them take the stage and inspire others with their unique perspectives and passions. Great job, Trailblazers! 🌟👏

Congratulations to Mason from Mrs. Gerding’s Speech & Debate class for presenting his own TED Talk! Through thoughtful research, strong communication skills, and the confidence to speak in front of an audience, Mason shared his ideas in a powerful and engaging way.
