THE GREAT S.A. READING CHALLENGE - TIME TO SHINE 3RD GRADE!
We’re thrilled to share that Rose Garden Elementary is participating in The Great S.A. Reading Challenge, a city-wide initiative designed to spark a lifelong love of reading in San Antonio’s 3rd graders! This challenge brings together schools, families, and the entire community to encourage daily, independent reading outside of school hours.
📚 What is it?
The Great S.A. Reading Challenge runs from October through April and encourages every 3rd-grade student to read at least 25 minutes a day outside of school. All types of reading count—books, magazines, digital texts, and more! Students track and log their reading minutes, and schools will compete in a fun, friendly bracket-style competition.
🏆 What’s in it for your child?
Throughout the challenge, top readers and classrooms will be celebrated with shoutouts, prizes, and fun virtual spotlight moments. The competition culminates in an exciting citywide celebration where the Champion Winner will be announced on April 6, 2027, at the NISD Gym!
