Universal City will soon have a new traffic pre-emption system designed to improve emergency response times and enhance public safety.

Opticom technology is being adopted in communities across the country and has earned recognition for helping emergency vehicles move more efficiently through intersections when every second counts.

The June/July edition of The Gateway shares the story of how a local resident’s generosity helped make this important project possible.

Registration for our First Responders Youth Cadet Academy is open. June 1-5 from 8am-1pm with family graduation on Saturday June 6th. This academy is open to 12-14 yr. Priority will be given to UC Residents, UC Grandchildren and children of anyone who works in Universal City. This week they will get to learn about Fire, Police, and EMS work. They will put out fires, learn CPR, and Stop the bleed. This is a great hands on experience. This is a FREE event with breakfast and lunch served.
