We are excited to announce that we are doing a Shoe Drive! This fundraiser not only will help sustain our programs, is earth friendly, but also will help those in other countries as well.

If you have gently used or new shoes, in any size and style, please consider donating them to us for our fundraiser. 🙏

We will collecting shoes starting June 7th at our Giveaway at Freedom Park in North Highlands. I will put the flyer in the comments. If you have shoes and unable to make it, please reach out to Tyrna Brown to make arrangements for pu or drop off.

We aim to collect 2500 pairs of shoes, by August 7th. Thanks so much for your time and consideration. Please share this with family, friends, and co-workers. Together we can make a difference. 🥰

Yesterday was amazing!! We kicked off our Conservation Program and helped 24 families with free snakeplants, led lightbulbs, and water conservation kits. We can't wait for our next round at our June 7th Big Giveaway & Community Resource Fair! 😍

We got to be apart of May For Zay. Which is truly a special event. Spreading Fentanyl Awareness is so important, so many lives are at stake. I encourage everyone to take a few moments to understand how big this becoming and what we can do to save a life. The Izaya Michaels Foundation will be coming to the Giveaway too, so be sure to stop by their booth and grab a Narcan. 🙏

We are proud to announce we have received a SMUD Shine Award. With this we are rolling out our new Conservation Program. We are passionate about sustainability and conservation and want to bring awareness to our community.

Our kickoff is at May For Zay this Saturday! The 1st 24 families who sign up will get a free conservation kit. But dont worry, if you miss out of the first batch, we will hand out more at our June 7th Giveaway coming up.

May For Zay is a fun, family friendly event and their goal is to spread fentanyl awareness. We never want want anyone to lose their loved one. Please come out and learn more about this cause. 🙏

Hello,

My name is Tyrna Brown, and I am the Founder and Executive Director of Act on Kindness (AOK), a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving underserved families throughout the Sacramento region.

AOK provides clothing, shoes, household essentials, children’s items, community resource connections, and family support through our Community Resource Hub and outreach programs. We currently serve hundreds of families and continue to grow each year.

We are reaching out to churches, commercial property owners, and community partners to explore opportunities for donated, subsidized, or shared-use space that could support our community programs and operations.

We are currently seeking:
• A storefront, warehouse, church hall, office suite, or multi-use community space
• Temporary, recurring, or long-term use
• Space to organize donations, operate our Community Resource Hub, distribute resources, and host family-focused support programs and events

Our goal is to establish a stable Community Resource Hub where families can access essential resources with dignity while also connecting to local services and support systems.

What we can offer:
• Positive community impact and visibility
• Increased community engagement and goodwill
• Recognition on flyers, social media, websites, and community materials
• Proof of nonprofit status and insurance documentation if needed
• Organized, respectful stewardship of the property and space

Even a smaller underutilized space could make a meaningful difference for the families we serve.
