🍎🍏 It was Apple Day in first grade! Our students learned all about the life cycle of an apple as they made connections to their Unit 1 Essential Question. Then it was time for the tasty part… apple taste testing and some other yummy apple snacks! 🍏🍎

Yesterday’s heat made the perfect weather for a little science! ☀️🖍️🔬 Our kindergarten scientists explored what happens when crayons are exposed to heat and watched as the colors melted and traveled down the canvas!

There was lots of observing, predicting, and talking about change. The finished product turned out pretty cool, too! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Kindergarten has been hard at work with some fine motor station fun! Our little learners have been practicing important skills with magnet chips, lacing activities, sensory bins, letter gears, and have even given a few “haircuts” (paper only, of course! ✂️😂) to practice their scissor skills!

Congratulations to our August Students of the Month and our Staff Member of the Month, Mrs. McBurnett! 🌟
They were each recognized for demonstrating RESPECT, our character trait for August, and setting a great example for others at APS! Way to go! 👏💙

The sound of ice cream truck music in the halls can only mean one thing… a sweet Friday surprise! 🍦🎶 Our awesome admin rolled around with an ice cream cart and treated our teachers to delicious sundaes this afternoon! 💙🍨

We were SO excited to welcome author and illustrator Johnathan Miller to APS today! Our students loved hearing about The Adventures of Sammy the Wonder Dachshund, and getting a peek into how Mr. Miller creates his colorful illustrations by cutting and layering cardstock.

And of course, we had to invite Mrs. Holsomback’s dachshund, Myles, to join in the fun! 🐶💙 He came to school today so he could hear all about Sammy’s adventures, too!

What a special day for our little readers! Thank you, Mr. Miller, for bringing Sammy’s adventures to life and sharing such a fun experience with our students! 📚🐾

Our students had such a fun morning at the Rome City Auditorium watching Rome Little Theatre, Inc’s production of Matilda the Musical! 🎭💙 The show was wonderful, but seeing one of our very own 2nd graders, Quinn, up on stage made it extra special! She did an amazing job, and we were so proud to see her shine! 🌟💙

He writes an adorable and fun series for boys and girls alike: The Adventures of Sammy the Wonder Dachshund. Your child will have an opportunity to purchase a book too! Order forms will be coming home this week.
