Public Animal Welfare Services Floyd County Animal Control Department is responsible for all animal control operations. To provide comprehensive and responsible adoption/rescue programs. Spam.

Floyd County PAWS strives:

To provide services which aid in containing free-roaming animals to prevent human injuries and the spread of diseases. To provide services which help prevent animals from becoming nuisances to the community or a burden to its citizens. To provide a physical facility which will house lost unwanted and neglected animals in a humane manner. To provide health care services

to those animals housed to prevent suffering. To provide unwanted, sick or injured animals with humane euthanasia, according them dignity and respect during that act. To strive to improve performance through education and dedication to our mission. To create public information and education programs, which will assist the members of this community to become more responsible pet owners.

Creating a Safe Space
Content is removed from P.A.W.S. channels and users are banned when an exchange or piece of content falls into one of the following categories:

Copyright or Trademark Laws. We report pages and accounts that impersonate the P.A.W.S. to the appropriate social media partners and remove content and comments that violate copyright and trademark laws. Harassment, Bullying, Violence & Threats. We have no tolerance for this and remove comments and content immediately that purposefully targets individuals. Content includes, but is not limited to:
- Images altered to degrade individuals or animals
- Personal information shared, e.g. addresses, phone numbers
- Content that contains specific threats
- Content that promotes or threatens terrorist activity or organized criminal activity

Violent & Graphic Content. We will remove pornographic or excessively violent content or comments shared on P.A.W.S. platforms. This includes content that promotes:
- Gratuitous violence towards people or animals
- Self-injury (including self-harm), suicide
- Sexual violence or exploitation of anyone, including minors

Hate Speech. Organizations and people dedicated to promoting hatred against any groups, including minority or protected groups, are not allowed a presence on our platforms. Any sort of hateful comments towards any individuals or groups based on the following topics will be banned:
- Race
- Ethnicity
- National origin
- Religious affiliation
- Sexual orientation
- Sex, gender, or gender identity
- Serious disabilities or diseases
- Age

Nudity. We will remove comments posted on our accounts that violate the platform standards. When sharing content that may contain nudity on P.A.W.S. social accounts we adhere to the individual platform community standards. By staying spam-free, our platforms have a better chance of fostering meaningful interactions. Our audiences are driven away if they encounter content from other users that is repetitive or too commercial in nature. For that reason, we hide or delete comments that are abusing platforms to post content such as:
- Malware/Phishing:
- Duplicate content over multiple accounts or multiple duplicate updates on one account
- Duplicate replies, comments, or mentions
- Unsolicited replies, comments, or mentions
- Misleading links (e.g. affiliate links, links to malware/clickjacking pages, etc.)

Everyone loves a firefighter... so how about a Fire Pup? ❤️🐾

Meet Water Hose Warrior, the brave mama who has spent the last several weeks serving as Chief Officer in Charge of six energetic little recruits! While she’s done an outstanding job keeping her crew in line, this hardworking mama is more than ready to cash in some well-earned Paid Time Off. 😅

Reporting for duty are:

These little rookies have completed basic training in:
✔️ Causing adorable chaos
✔️ Stealing hearts
✔️ Napping on the job
✔️ Looking way too cute for their own good

The good news? Chief P.A.W.S. has officially cleared these recruits for assignment to their very own fire stations (aka forever homes)! 🏠❤️

And let's not forget about the hero behind the whole operation! Water Hose Warrior is also available for adoption! After raising six busy recruits, this sweet mama deserves a loving home where she can finally hang up her helmet, relax, and enjoy being someone's beloved family dog. ❤️🐶

🐾❤️ A Huge Thank You to ARF! ❤️🐾

This weekend, 8 P.A.W.S. dogs packed their bags and headed off to rescue partners, giving them the chance to find the loving homes they deserve.

Among those leaving was Midnight, one of the most special dogs we've ever had the privilege to know. After heartbreakingly losing her own puppies, Midnight opened her heart and became a foster mom to another puppy in need—and even helped care for a kitten. Her gentle spirit and nurturing nature touched everyone who met her, and we couldn't be happier to see her journey continue.

Also heading out was Kahlo, our longest resident, who spent 141 days waiting patiently at P.A.W.S. for her opportunity. Watching Kahlo finally get her chance is exactly why we do what we do.

We are incredibly grateful to Animal Rescue Foundation of Rome - Floyd County INC. for stepping up and helping these dogs move one step closer to forever homes. Rescue partnerships save lives, and this weekend is a perfect example of the difference we can make when we work together.

Please join us in wishing Midnight, Kahlo, and all of their friends safe travels and bright futures. We can't wait to see the happy endings that await them! 🐶✨

This is Tooty and Scooty! They are beagle mixes that came in almost a month ago. They are dog friendly. They do NOT have to be adopted together. They are up to date on shots, microchipped, and altered. Their only flaw? They are HW positive. These sweet boy and girl are adorable and sweet and deserve the best home possible. HW treatment is paid for by PAWS to anyone who adopts. You would just have to give them a pill for a month then bring them back to the shelter for injections. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 11:30am-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-4:30pm. We are located at 99 North Avenue Rome, Ga 30161.

Joanne was taken out on the town and pampered the way she deserved! Some of our wonderful volunteers ( Keener Pet Services) came and took Joanne for a spa day! This girl has so much love to give. We know her forever home is out there. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on shots. She is HW negative. She is around a year old and fully grown at 44lbs. She is dog friendly and people friendly she just takes a few beats to warm up to you. Someone come make this pretty girl's world! SENIOR DOG URGENTLY NEEDS A HOME 🚨

Zoey still has no interest, and we are running out of time. 💔

Zoey is a sweet senior girl, around 8–10 years old and 85 lbs. Many rescues have told us they are unable to take seniors right now, so we urgently need to find her a loving home or foster immediately.

Atom generously purchased 25 shirts for the next 25 adopters at our shelter — such an incredibly thoughtful and meaningful gift! Not only does this brighten the adoption experience for our adopters, but it also helps support the shelter in a tremendous way.
