CASA CASA is a nonprofit affordable housing developer and compassionate property manager. Our goal for each tenant is that they never face homelessness again.

CASA develops and manages affordable rental housing, primarily for veterans and people living with disabilities. We are a hands-on property manager, committed to our tenants and their neighborhoods. Since 1992, we have seen what high-quality permanent supportive housing can do to bring brighter tomorrows to tenants and communities.

That's a wrap on the Annual Community Health & Wellness Fair! 🎉 Our Behavioral Health Intervention Team (BHIT) put together an awesome event complete with health screenings and housing resources to fish fry and raffle prizes.
Friday was proof that when a community comes together, something special happens.

We are excited to welcome Dana Mangum as CASA's Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1!

Dana joins CASA as a Strategic Advisor with Armstrong McGuire, bringing decades of leadership experience guiding nonprofit organizations through periods of growth and transition. Her expertise spans nonprofit management, strategic planning, equity implementation, and health care advocacy, making her uniquely positioned to help lead CASA during this important chapter.

Not every CASA home makes the headlines. But each one changes lives.
Bryan Place in Durham brought 16 permanent one-bedroom apartments to people who have experienced homelessness or live with a disability. 50% of those apartments are home to a US Veteran.

Named in honor of Nancye Bryan — longtime CASA Board Member and affordable housing advocate — Bryan Place is a testament to what's possible when community invests in its neighbors. We are continually grateful to Nancye for more than 3 decades of caring for our community.

25 years ago, Kathleen McHenry DiRubio walked into her CASA NC interview and was asked a question she hadn't considered before: What causes homelessness?
Her answer — rooted in circumstances, consequences, and the absence of affordable housing — got her the job. And it has guided every one of the 25 years she's spent as CASA's Business Manager and Volunteer Coordinator ever since.

In that time, CASA has grown from a small team of 7 with fewer than 100 apartments to nearly 40 staff members and approaching 700 housing units across the Triangle. Kathleen was there for all of it — including CASA's first new construction project, the launch of Cabin for CASA, and the steady, unglamorous work of keeping affordable homes operational and stable for hundreds of neighbors.

"At the end of the day, you can't be a successful person if you don't have a place to end each day."
