Child passenger safety seats are one of the most effective tools for reducing serious injury and death in motor vehicle crashes. Properly installed and correctly fitted seats can lower the risk of fatal injury by as much as 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers. Despite their proven effectiveness, studies consistently show that a majority of child safety seats are installed or used incorrectly, often due to confusion about proper positioning, harnessing, or compatibility with specific vehicles. These errors can significantly reduce the level of protection a seat provides in the event of a collision.

To address this issue, the Pulaski Police Department encourages parents and caregivers to have their child safety seats professionally inspected. Cpl. Taylor Keith, a certified child passenger safety seat inspector, offers expert assistance to ensure seats are installed correctly and adjusted to fit each child’s age, height, and weight. This service not only provides peace of mind but also equips caregivers with the knowledge needed to maintain proper seat usage over time.

By taking a few minutes to have a safety seat checked, families can dramatically improve their child’s protection on the road. The Pulaski Police Department remains committed to community safety, and utilizing certified resources like Cpl. Taylor Keith is a simple yet vital step in safeguarding the lives of our youngest passengers.

Please stop by the Pulaski Police Department and speak with Cpl. Taylor Keith if you have questions.

Cpl. Taylor Keith and Officer Laken Arnett attended Crisis Intervention Training last week. We look forward to having more officers trained to better assist members of our community.

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training is a specialized program aimed at equipping law enforcement officers with the skills necessary to effectively respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises. This training is crucial for improving interactions between officers and those in distress.
