🎃 Pie pumpkins are everywhere right now! Have you thought about preserving some to enjoy later?
When it comes to home canning, remember this important safety tip: pumpkin and winter squash should be canned in cubes, not mashed or pureed. 🫙
Why? Research has found too much variation in acidity, thickness, and water activity to safely recommend one processing time for mashed or pureed pumpkin.
✅ The safe choice: Can pumpkin in cubes, then drain and puree it when you’re ready to use it for your favorite recipes.

We see our very own, Dennis DeCamp! Through the Ohio Youth Development Collaborative, we are able to bring great programs to schools in Scioto County!

We partner with Extension Educators in communities to offer school-based prevention programming to middle school youth.

Pictured here is Scioto County FCS Educator, Dennis DeCamp teaching students at Bloom Vernon Elementary School how to self-sooth with breathing and sensory exercises.

Prevention exercises like this can support students in times of stress and reduce the need for interventions.
