π¨The "Missed Jury Duty" Scam Is Hitting Our Area!

The Scioto County Sheriff's Office is warning about phone scammers posing as deputies, U.S. Marshals, or court officials. The story is always the same: you missed jury duty, there's a warrant out, and you can make it go away by paying a fine right now.
It's a lie. Real courts and law enforcement will never call demanding payment, and they will never ask for gift cards, Venmo, Zelle, a wire, or crypto. Warrants are served in person, not settled over the phone.
If you get one of these calls, hang up. Don't argue, don't confirm any personal details, and never send money. Then verify with your local Clerk of Courts:
