Happy Pride Month, PPS Community! 🌈

Every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and be seen for who they are. This month, we celebrate the students, staff, families, and community members whose stories, talents, and contributions help shape our schools each day.

Pride honors those who have paved the way, those who continue to lead with strength and compassion, and those who are still discovering their own path.

At PPS, we remain committed to creating school communities where every student feels welcomed, respected, and supported as they pursue their dreams and build their future.

DEMOS I SAY! Today's modernization groundbreaking ceremony was a landmark moment in the Jefferson High School community. Students, staff, PPS Board, community members, and leaders joined in a powerful celebration of Jeff’s legacy and a deserved investment in north/northeast Portland.

A huge thank you to PPS leadership, our project, community, and government partners for an unforgettable program. This exciting next chapter is thanks to the 2025 School Improvement Bond and the voters who approved it. Students succeed when they learn in safe, comfortable, and modern spaces. We are BUILDING OUR FUTURE, RISING TOGETHER!

to Tubman Middle School students experiencing Black history, music, and literacy in a whole new way.

Through a partnership between PPS VAPA, Library Services, Multnomah County Library, and Albina Music Trust, students explored the cultural legacy of Portland’s Albina neighborhood, connected with local musicians (including Jefferson alumni), and took home free books by Black authors.

Literacy doesn’t only live in textbooks. Sometimes it sounds like gospel music, community, and culture coming alive in real time.

Big thanks to AMT for sponsoring this experience for our kiddos!

The Drug Free Communities grant, through Student Success & Health, partnered with the Multnomah County Behavioral Health Division to host Empoderando Familias Empowering Families. This joy-filled event was a free, Spanish-language gathering that brought families together to learn about parenting for substance use prevention and wellness. It focused on offering important information and resources in a welcoming, family-friendly space and a culturally responsive space.

All panelists were prevention professionals, helping ensure the information shared was practical and relevant. Held as part of a Children’s Day celebration, Empoderando Familias offered families clear, accessible information and evidence-based strategies they can use to help their families thrive.
