🌿 Big News for Point Pleasant Borough! 🌿

Council President Joe Veni and Councilwoman Valerie Coulson joined NJ DEP Commissioner Ed Potosnak yesterday at Sunshine Harbor as the NJ Department of Environmental Protection awarded the Barnegat Bay Partnership a $4.8 million grant to restore 13 acres of the Nellie Bennett Salt Marsh right here in Point Borough.

Council President Veni highlighted the teamwork behind this achievement, noting that Mayor Sabosik, the Council, and the Barnegat Bay Partnership worked closely to bring this project to life. Restoring the marsh will strengthen coastal resiliency, enhance wildlife habitats, and help protect our community from storm surges and flooding.

Councilwoman Coulson reflected on the marsh’s history, sharing that it was once thriving and vibrant—and this project will help bring it back to life for the benefit of all residents. The plan includes rebuilding the marsh using dredged material from nearby lagoons and other environmentally friendly methods. All of this has been made possible by a dedicated group of volunteers and partners including our own Environmental Commission, Save Barnegat Bay and the Barnegat Bay Partnership.

👏 A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this happen—this is a proud moment for Point Pleasant!
