Two veteran brothers. Two coasts. More than 40 years since they last saw each other's faces.
They had kept in touch by phone over the years, but said they might not even recognize each other. Neither had internet at home, and both found technology like smartphones hard to use.
This month, thanks to the Placer County GovernmentVeterans Service Office and Easterseals Capital Region and Eastern Connecticut Veterans Rally Point, the brothers saw each other again over video.
Cell Phones for Soldiers was honored to help make sure the reunion didn't end there. We sent each brother an iPad and a smartphone with a year of unlimited talk, text and data, so the phone can work as a hotspot and they can keep video calling whenever they want.
This is why connection matters. A device and a reliable signal can bring family back together.
Thank you to Katie Combs Prichard, Steve Johnson and the Placer County team, and to Ryan Landry and the Veterans Rally Point team in Connecticut, for bringing these brothers together. Watch their reunion here: https://vimeo.com/1238168095
